<div class="ck-content" data-wrapper="true" dir="ltr" style="--ck-image-style-spacing: 1.5em; --ck-inline-image-style-spacing: calc(var(--ck-image-style-spacing) / 2); font-family: Segoe UI; font-size: 11pt;"><p style="margin: 0; text-align: justify;">Latvian employment relations are primarily governed by the <a href="https://likumi.lv/ta/id/26019-darba-likums" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Labour Law</a> of Latvia,<sup>1 </sup>which transposes the Posting of Workers Directive and its subsequent amendments. The Labour Law sets out the minimum employment conditions applicable to posted workers.</p><p style="margin: 0; text-align: justify;"><br><strong>The Labour Law</strong>:</p><p style="margin: 0; text-align: justify;">&nbsp;</p><ul style="list-style-position: inside;"><li data-list-item-id="e6637e3ef6d29d29a987433041f3e4e94"><p style="margin: 0; text-align: justify;"><strong>Sets the principle of equal rights for everyone</strong>, stipulating that each person has an equal right to work, fair remuneration, and safe, healthy working conditions. These rights must be provided without any direct or indirect discrimination based on factors such as race, skin colour, gender, age, disability, religious, political or other beliefs, ethnic or social origin, property or marital status, sexual orientation or other circumstances. Work placement service providers must ensure that temporary workers enjoy the same working conditions and employment rights as if they were directly employed by the recipient company. These conditions apply to working hours, rest periods, remuneration, maternity protection, the rights of children and adolescents, and the principles of equality and non-discrimination (Article 7).</p></li><li data-list-item-id="e48019bca7bf720c65d689b53adc5dc20"><p style="margin: 0; text-align: justify;"><strong>Defines an employee</strong> as a natural person who, on the basis of an employment contract, performs specific work under the guidance of an employer for an agreed remuneration (Article 3).</p></li><li data-list-item-id="eddea1402d9f74f0f6391446cd92088b7"><p style="margin: 0; text-align: justify;"><strong>Applies to all posted workers</strong>.
